Van Gerwen ends PDC preparations with win over Van Barneveld

Michael van Gerwen won an exhibition tournament in Portsmouth on Friday night, defeating his compatriot in the final.

As well as Van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld, the tournament also featured the likes of Vincent van der Voort, Andy Jenkins, Corrine Hammond, Fallon Sherrock and Simon Whitlock.

It was the final round of preparation for most - with MVG coming out on top at the 'Untouchables' event.

The world number three ranked star was victorious 5-3 over Barney.

He had previously whitewashed Fallon Sherrock 5-0 en route to the final, while Van Barneveld had defeated Simon Whitlock in his semi-final.

The PDC World Darts Championship begins on December 15th, with bookies' favourite 'Mighty Mike' taking to the stage for the first time in the second round on December 21st.
