With the midway point of the season soon upon us, who is currently leading the goalscoring charts in the Premier League?

Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min were the joint-winners of the golden boot last season with the Liverpool and Tottenham strikers netting 23 goals a piece to share the award, but surely not even they could stop the formidable Erling Haaland this season.

The 22-year-old scored a brace in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Leeds on Wednesday to extend his remarkable tally to 20 Premier League goals of the campaign.

It has taken the Norwegian striker just 14 games to hit this milestone, a new Premier League record, taking him above Kevin Phillips who took 21 games to score the same number of goals for Sunderland during the 1999/2000 season.

Haaland has already scored enough goals to have won the golden boot in five previous campaigns overall, with the striker needing three more to equal the winning total of the past three seasons.

Elsewhere, his nearest rival, Harry Kane, netted his 13th goal of the campaign in Tottenham's 2-2 draw against Brentford on Boxing Day, with Ivan Toney - who scored in the same match - two goals behind on 11.

Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic is the only other Premier League player to have hit double figures so far, with 10.

But all eyes are on the telesmatic Haaland, who has remarkably notched more Premier League goals than nine clubs this season, including Chelsea, who have scored 19 times in 15 games.

Can Haaland break the all-time Premier League record?

Mohamed Salah currently holds the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game season, with the Liverpool striker netting 32 goals in 2017/18 - a record only bettered by Newcastle’s Andrew Cole (1993/94) and Alan Shearer (1994/95) who scored 34 times when the Premier Leauge held 42-game seasons.
