19:19 BST - Centre Court was treated to a see-saw battle, but it was the younger Alcaraz who peaked at crunch time to edge an absolute epic.
19:09 BST - An absolute marathon that lived up to the pre-match hype. Full credit to both players, but the All England Club has a new champion.
18:51 BST - CARLOS ALCARAZ IS THE CHAMPION OF WIMBLEDON!
Carlos Alcaraz ends Novak Djokovic's 10-year unbeaten run on Centre Court after beating the Serbian 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in four hours and forty-six minutes.
The Spaniard earns the second Grand Slam title of his career and is the SW19 champion for the first time.
18:48 BST - Djokovic holds under said pressure, but it might not be enough. Back on Alcaraz's serve at 5-4 and he will now serve for the match and the Wimbledon title…
18:45 BST - Alcaraz holds once again and is on the brink of a first Wimbledon title - one game away now! He converts the game with a second serve ace and now puts the Djokovic serve under huge pressure.
18:36 BST - Both players racing through their service games now but it's Alcaraz who still holds the advantage. The world number one leads 4-2.
18:24 BST - INCREDIBLE TENNIS. Alcaraz draws first blood in this deciding set on the end of a super rally which saw Djokovic slip, make the return but he can't defend a blistering backhand down the line. Djokovic is broken, demolishes his racket on the net post and receives a code violation for his troubles. Talk about drama.
18:03 BST - Game and fourth set - Djokovic! We're going the distance on Centre Court and Djokovic was full value for money to take that 6-3. But he didn't have to do too much in that final game with Alcaraz double faulting at set point.
17:57 BST - Djokovic solidifies his break of serve before Alcaraz. There was a hairy moment when the Spaniard slipped on the greener part of the court beyond the baseline, but he bounced back up despite an awkward-looking fall.
17:50 BST - Djokovic breaks! And it comes following a sitter at the net from Alcaraz. Djokovic put a lot of pressure on Alcaraz's serve and he returned much better in that game - he'll take a 3-2 lead. He blows a kiss to the Centre Court crowd at the changeover.
17:34 BST - Still on serve after three games in this fourth set and Alcaraz leads 2-1. Djokovic tested his serve in that last game before the changeover but was unable to force a single break point despite a handful of deuces.
17:08 BST - Game and third set - Alcaraz! Simply brilliant tennis throughout that set from Alcaraz and you feel him winning that monster fifth game was the settler there. The young Spaniard wins it 6-1 to take a two sets to one lead over Djokovic, who heads off court for a toilet break.
17:03 BST - WOW! After a TITAN game lasting 26 minutes and 56 seconds, Alcaraz gains a priceless break and a double one at that in this third set. What a huge moment that could be in the grand scheme of the match.
16:28 BST - Decent hold for Djokovic after Alcaraz consolidates his break of serve. He's on the board for 2-1 in this third set and you feel he needed that one to resettle.
16:19 BST - Alcaraz breaks instantly in the third! The momentum is with the Spaniard and Djokovic is irritated as he has a grumble to the umpire about a let call during the game.
16:13 BST - Game and second set - Alcaraz! Djokovic is beaten in a Grand Slam tiebreak and he will be frustrated with that as he put a few poor groundstrokes into the net towards the end. Alcaraz puts his finger to his ear as Centre Court erupts! All level in this breathtaking final.
15:57 BST - To a tiebreak we go in this second set. Alcaraz threatened Djokovic's serve but nothing doing. The odds are well in Djokovic's favour here - he's won 15 in a row at Grand Slams.
15:48 BST - Still little to split Djokovic and Alcaraz as both have remained on serve and are continuing to fight for literally every ball. Djokovic holds with an excellent winner at the net after Alcaraz dived for it out wide.
15:21 BST - This is a much more competitive set with Djokovic and Alcaraz taking each other to deuce and beyond on their respective serves. Some superb rallies but both have held well and we are on serve as Alcaraz leads 3-2.
15:06 BST - Alcaraz's advantage is short-lived as Djokovic breaks straight back. The Spaniard winds up a big forehand but which sails wide and Djokovic grabs his response, roaring towards the Centre Court crowd in celebration, or even frustration.
14:58 BST - Alcaraz breaks for the first time in the match! It may have taken 48 minutes but he won't care as watches a Djokovic sail into the tramlines. He'll serve at 2-0 up in the second.
14:43 BST - Game and first set - Djokovic! The Serbian serves out the first set with no bother as he thumps Alcaraz 6-1 in 34 minutes. The perfect way to begin this final for Djokovic.
14:42 BST - Alcaraz is on the board and what a lovely shot to seal the game! A bit of a sketchy game by Djokovic and Alcaraz capitalises, firing a winner down the line to notch his first of the set. That was much better from the Spaniard but he still trails 5-1 and will now need to break to stay in this set.
14:35 BST - Alcaraz is in a big first-set hole here as Djokovic gets the double break. Djokovic holds after an entertaining game and then defends well from the baseline on Alcaraz's serve. He takes a 4-0 lead into his next service game and looks to be running away with this opening set.
14:22 BST - A lovely start for Djokovic as he forces an early break of serve. The Serbian survived a relatively long opening service game before fashioning three break points on Alcaraz. Djokovic converts at the third time of asking and he draws first blood.
14:10 BST - We are underway for the men's singles final! Djokovic is on serve first.
