The excitement is building as we enter the home straight for the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which get underway on Friday, July 26th.

Flashscore looks at a few young British stars who could make an impact for Team GB on the big stage in the French capital this summer.

Phoebe Gill (Athletics)

Phoebe Gill is set to make history in Paris as the youngest track athlete to compete for Great Britain in more than 40 years.

Just 17 years old, Gill confirmed her Olympic place in June when she won the 800m at the UK Athletics Championships.

In May, she broke the European under-18 800m record with a scorching one minute and 57.86 seconds just a fortnight after her birthday.

Sky Brown (Skateboarding)

Sixteen-year-old skateboarder Sky Brown will become the youngest British Olympian ever in Paris this summer.

She made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 aged 13 and emerged as Britain's youngest medallist of all time when she came away with bronze in the park skateboarding final.

Already a world champion, Brown returns with an eye on the podium again and with hopes of winning gold on this occasion.

Toby Roberts (Climbing)

With victory at the 2023 European Qualifiers, Toby Roberts became the first male British climber to secure a place in the Olympics.

He won his first World Cup gold in bouldering last year before following up with a lead victory in Chamonix.

It made him the first British climber to win a World Cup in two different disciplines.

Roberts will team up with fellow history-maker Hamish McArthur.

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix (Diving)

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix reached the women's 10m platform finals at a 16-year-old on her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 and has gone from strength to strength.

Since then, the now 19-year-old has won World, European and two Commonwealth gold medals.

In 2022, Spendolini-Sirieix wanted to quit the sport after developing a fear of diving but has since overcome that anxiety.

Penny Healey (Archery)

Nineteen-year-old Penny Healey is another athlete making their Olympic debut and will compete in the individual and team archery events.

Healey won World Cup and two European golds in 2023 which helped her reach the top ranking.

Her achievements throughout the season earned her a nomination for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year.

Anna Hursey (Table tennis)

Wales' Anna Hursey first represented her country at age 10 and will become the first Welsh table tennis player to represent Great Britain since it was introduced to the Olympics in 1988.

Hursey took up the sport full-time in 2019 after moving to China - where her mother is from.

The 18-year-old won bronze in the women's doubles at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
